The Seminary Attitude

Wolaita Evangelical Seminary is a seminary which seeks to meet the needs of maintaining biblical truth as it is stated in the scriptures. The seminary attempts to emphasize the significance of responding to the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20. Its purpose is to prepare and equip men and women for all church and community ministry while enriching and enabling God’s people who seek biblical knowledge for personal life and ministries. The rapid church growth and the modern technological advancement have vital impact on the church ministers and their ministries. The Seminary attempts to address the current needs of the church by providing theological education with practical emphasis. The central theme of the seminary is applying the sole authority of God’s Word to all aspects of life.

Students are encouraged to apply the main teaching of the Bible by engaging themselves in preaching the Word, pastoral care, Church planting, counseling, evangelism, missions, establishing satellite Christian training centers and other ministries of the church for the glory of God.

Faith Statement

1. The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament (a total of 66 Books) are the Word of God. It is divinely inspired, infallible, inerrant, and entirely trust worthy and serves as the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct (2Timothy 3:16-17).

2.     God is One, the one God is eternally self – existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deut.6:4-5; Matt.28:19).

3.     Jesus Christ is savior and Lord. While being God, He manifested in the flesh. We believe in His virgin birth; sinless life; divine miracles; vicarious and atoning death, bodily resurrection; ascension, mediatory work; and His future personal return in power and glory ( LK.1:32-33; Jn.1:1-4; 1 Tim.2:5-6; 6:13-16).

4.     Holy Spirit is God. As the third Person in the God-head, He indwells every believer upon conversion and enables the believer to live a holy life; to witness in power; and to work for the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts5:3-4; Mt.28:19; Acts 1:8).

5.      Man was made in the image of God and sinless. By choice man fell into sin. In God’s mercy, Salvation comes to every lost and sinful person freely and simply by faith in Jesus Christ who shed His blood for sin, and through regeneration by the Holy Spirit (Gen.1:26-28; 3:1-21; Jn.1:11-13; 1Cor. 12:13).

6.     All believers in Jesus Christ are One Body; the church, of which He is the Head (1 Cor.12:13; Eph.2:14-22)

7.     Satan is a fallen angel whose intent is to supplant God’s purpose, and whose ultimate end is consignment to eternal punishment. (Lk.10:17-18; Rev. 20:10).

8.     Bodily Resurrection of all the dead will take place at the end. Believers in Christ will rise unto everlasting blessedness while unbelievers will rise unto judgment and everlasting punishment (Rev. 20:11-15; 2 Cor. 5:9-10).

9.   We value all God’s creation and obey His commandments in taking care of them as

Faithful stewards for the glory of God for wellbeing of humanity.
